Missing from that passage is the idea that we are best served by the process of updating our prior assumptions. That’s how we learn. That’s how we approach truth, even if we never quite get there. But how many are committed to this approach? Hard to say, since the airwaves are dominated by voices of people who are, as you say, done with updates.
