My opinion (I say yes, but have some hesitations) is that the shift has allowed a gap for opinion and feeling to mask as fact, which seems to have a dangerous effect on communication, at least in social media and journalism (where attention is often equated with money). That's a pretty dim view. I will look for an upside.
